Paeng damage to agri, infra in Pangasinan, La Union hits P8.8M

Severe Tropical Storm Paeng has left a total of PHP4.8 million in damage to agriculture, infrastructure, and livestock in the province of Pangasinan, and over PHP4 million in damage to agriculture in La Union province as of Nov. 2.

In a phone interview on Wednesday, Patrick Aquino, Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) operations supervisor, said the reported damage to agriculture alone so far amounted to PHP1.6 million.

'Most of the affected are mango trees due to the strong winds, the fruits fell on the ground,' he said.

Aquino said damage to infrastructure, mostly roads, amounted to PHP2.5 million.

He said livestock in the province affected by the typhoon amounted to PHP685,850.

Meanwhile, at least 702 individuals evacuated due to flooding in their areas during the onslaught of Paeng have already returned to their houses.

Aquino said these individuals were from the towns of Bani, Lingayen, and Bolinao, and Alaminos City.
